2019 06 05 * THE SMELL [Los Angeles, CA] Blessed, Hex Horizontal, Picky Bunches

i usually do this thing where i arrive at the advertised time for shows at the smell and i'm there at least an hour before anyone else gets there. this time the stated time was 9pm, but i felt that was pretty realistic, so i arrived at 8:30pm instead haha. anyway, this was a nice show!

up first was picky bunches who i've managed to see play a few times in a short amount of time and are just very great! love me some double bass arythmic pleasantly awkward harmony'd songs. okay and then on tour from a "podunk town" (their words not mine) in canada, which is funny because the phrase comes from america, it's not that funny actually, but okay, blessed played. i saw them in december 2017 and both times i was pretty mesmerized by what was happening. it's very loud and everyone is moving really fast. it's just cool to watch. and listen to. and of course hex horizontal who i guess are playing just a couple last shows for now and then taking a break. i haven't seen them in a while so i'm glad i got to catch this set. and i'm excited for other projects they'll be working on.

i inadvertantly took a break from recording shows, but glad i got back to it for this one. here are the recordings:

picky bunches // blessed // hex horizontal

here's the gross flyer haha. tongues are weird (i assume zach made it?):
